Wet Charcoal

Keep your charcoal dry

Have you ever tried to start your charcoal fire and found that it never seems to catch fire?

For those who use charcoal, we suggest using a charcoal chimney and newspapers or lighter blocks to light the charcoal.  Others may use a pile of briquettes with lighter fluid. Regardless of what method you use, the charcoal must be dry in order to ignite. To keep the charcoal dry, always keep it in a dry area. That could be your garage or a tight container.

In areas where there is high humidity, more so than in desert areas, never keep your charcoal outdoors unprotected or in a non-climatized storage area or shed. Your best bet will be to dispose of the charcoal and go buy a new bag.
