First and last names are really important so we can notify you!Fish & Shellfish Are Wonderful On The GrillShrimp, oysters, mussels, crab, salmon, perch, lobster, trout, you name it!Seafood is, pretty much any sea animal that is served as food and is then eaten by you and me (i.e. humans). It includes fish and shellfish (including mollusks and crustaceans). Seafood in North America is also applied to similar edible animals from fresh water. In some countries, such as New Zealand, seafood is generally categorized as "Game" because you have to hunt/fish for it. Seafood can be either "wild caught", which is fairly self explanatory or farm raised, where the animals are raised under close supervision. We would be led to believe that the wild caught fish seafood is more healthy, whether it is or not. Many vegetarians (not the strict ones) make a distinction of seafood from other meats, and are ok with eating seafood. We don't understand the difference or their logic, but then again, we don't have to! Some of the more common types of editable fish are: Catfish, Cod, Flounder, Haddock, Halibut, Herring, Mackerel, Salmon, Snapper, Sole, Tilapia, Trout and Tuna. As we mentioned above, most outdoor cooks are leery of cooking seafood. Many reasons abound for this fear, but perhaps being MACHO might even be the largest obstacle. "Only sissies do fish...Beef & Pork are manly!". And there is the "Fear Factor". We would guess that many people have failed a few times and thus don't want to revisit that scene. Ok, guys, your wives/girlfriends love seafood! Shouldn't that be enough for you to send you out cooking it, right? Regardless, if you are not an outdoor seafood cook, you are missing out on a great outdoor event. Most seafood is very flavorful and highly adapted to the outdoor grill if done correctly. It is probably true that cooking seafood does require a few extra steps that can help improve the experience and ultimately make the meal absolutely delightful. For now, however, we will be grouping the "fish and shell fish" into one category. As time goes one and we get more recipes, we may very well break these out into their own categories.
