Bacon-Thyme-Cheese Burgers

The bacon and thyme add great flavors

In the days of the ancient Greeks, thyme was used it in their baths, burned as incense in their temples and was even believed to be a source of courage. Well, we always "encourage" you to try new meals!

  2 pounds ground beef

  • 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 ounces bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup finely chopped sweet onion
  • 3 tablespoons garlic - minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 4 sesame seed hamburger rolls, toasted

This recipe yields 4 large 1/2 pound burgers...So you better be hungry!

Make 4 patties from the hamburger meat.  Drizzle the burgers with the Worcestershire sauce and season them with the salt and pepper. Refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Fry your bacon to medium crispy and set aside. Drain most of the fat and add the onions and cook until they are softened. Next, add the garlic and cook about 1 minute. Now, place the thyme in the pan and toss to combine. Remove the pan from the heat and keep warm.

Fire up your grill to a medium-hot temperature.

Remove your seasoned beef patties from the refrigerator and place on the grill. Cook until done to your perfection, turning occasionally.  Move the burgers to a cooler side of the grill, place 2 slices of the cheddar on each burger, cover and allow the cheese to melt.

Set the burgers on the bottom of each of the 4 toasted buns, place the 1/4th of the chopped bacon and your coked ingredients on each burger and season with lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and pickles as desired.
