BBQ Tools

Monterey Bacon Cheeseburger

This one will make your heart stop!

From the southwest comes this hearty hamburger which will delight everyone who can wrap their mouths around this creation.

  • 1/2 pound ground sirloin
  • 1/2 pound fresh ground sausage
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey jack
  • 1/3rd cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 egg whole, uncooked
  • 4 slices cooked bacon
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Buns, ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard, lettuce, sliced tomato, grilled onions, as desired

Cook the bacon until almost crispy. Set aside.

Combine your ground sirloin, ground fresh sausage, seasoned bread crumbs, whole egg, salt, pepper and mix thoroughly.  Shape into thick patties as desired.  Sprinkle a little more with the salt and pepper. Set aside covered in the refrigerator.

Get your grill going with a medium-hot fire.  When ready, place the burgers over the fire and turn often enough that they do not burn.  Don't let the fire flame up and burn the meat.

Cook until done and move to a cooler part of the grill. Place equal portions of the Monterey Jack cheese and bacon on the meat.  Toast the buns and serve with one or more of the following:  ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard, lettuce, sliced tomato, grilled onions.  Make it yours!
